Here at Thyme and Company Counseling, we use an integrative mental health model to ensure wholistic care and attention to your presenting emotional and somatic symptoms.
Within our sessions, you will learn how to identify and cope appropriately with your emotions, communicate your thoughts and feelings effectively, improve your mind-body equilibrium and neuroplasticity with mindfulness, somatic exercises, nutrition and creativity. Many of our life experiences have had a significant impact on how we perceive ourselves, our relationships and the world around us, resulting in trauma symptoms that manifest into dysregulation of our emotions, nervous system and cognition.
If left unaddressed, we can experience somatic symptoms that can disrupt our daily functioning due to chronic pain and illness. You may notice issues like autoimmune disorders, hormonal issues, headaches, migraines, muscle tension, anxiety, depression, hyper and/or hypoarousal, sleep disturbances, reduced or increased appetite, weight-related issues, reduced motivation for activities of daily living & self care, loss of interest in enjoyed activities, etc.
We will discuss tools and specialists that can support improved mental wellbeing and quality of life, addressing the long-term effects of trauma on the mind and body, while recalibrating your nervous system and integrating creative, holistic interventions towards achieving your goals.
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is a mindfulness-based psychotherapy that helps you acknowledge your relationship with your thoughts and feelings. You learn to understand your feelings instead of changing them. You'll work on reframing your values and adjusting your behaviors to better match them.
Relational Therapy focuses on the importance of relationships in shaping an individual's mental and emotional well-being. It explores how past and present relationships influence thoughts, feelings, and behaviors.
